Packing Efficiently
Published on Monday, 14 December 2009

You may not know it by now, but packing can actually help ease the stress of moving out.

* You would want to start packing the things you don't frequently use.  This is to avoid rummaging through the packed boxes in case you forget you still need to use an item.  Start from the attic or stock room

* One of the top tips for packing efficiently is to place the heavier ones at the bottom and go light as you reach the top of the box.  You would also want to fill in the gaps with newspaper, bubble wrap, or anything that could cushion in between the articles to avoid damage when transporting.

* Try to use identical-sized boxes as much as you can. This can help you in stacking them.  But do make sure to label them according to the area of the house it belongs to.  For multiple boxes, you might want to consider listing everything inside on the box to avoid confusion as to where the stuff.

* Invest in a good quality of tape should you decide to seal the boxes

* When packing glassware, place a newspaper at the bottom of the box followed by a bubble wrap.

* Plates can safely be stacked up to 5 or six with bubble wrap in between

Bear in mind that when you are organised, you lessen the stress of moving out and can save you a lot of time and energy.
